Meet Our Doctors and Staff.................



  Dr. Kenneth R. Mallard DVM, Owner

"Doc" Mallard is the owner and operator of the Strafford Veterinary Clinic in Strafford, Missouri. He was born and raised in Southwest Missouri and still calls it home today. Being raised on a farm, he developed a love for animals at an early age. He was an active member in both 4H and FFA throughout high school, which led his decision to attend college and Veterinary School. Dr. Mallard graduated in 1997 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri, in Columbia. Having graduated from vet school on a Friday, he opened the doors of Strafford Veterinary Clinic on the following Monday, where he continues to be blessed with many wonderful clients.

As a hobby for his three children, Dr.Mallard began raising English Bulldogs in 1999. He fell in love with the breed, and became focused on every aspect of the reproductive process, how to further better the breed, and the medical differences that are present with a brachycephalic (snub nosed) patient. He is known all over the state of Missouri and surrounding states as the "Bulldog Specialist". He is an active member of the AVMA, MVMA, and The Society of Theriogenology.

   Erin Mallard 

Erin is Dr. Mallard's wife of 22 years.  They have three teenage children; Jessica , Nathan and Hannah.  They reside in Fair Grove, MO where they raise English Bulldogs as a hobby for thier children.  She has been at the clinic full time since 2006. During the week you can find her working in her office on administrative duties, training the staff on the latest protocols, and finding better, more efficient processes and putting them in place. What she enjoys most about being at the clinic is seeing happy, healthy clients, their pets, and the staff.  In her free time she can be found landscaping, painting, or spending time with her family.


   Dr. David Sikes, DVM

Dr. David Sikes has been with Strafford Veterinary Clinic since the spring of 2010. He was born and raised in Buffalo, Missouri. A 2004 graduate from SMSU, currently known as MSU; and a 2008 graduate of MU Collage of Veterinary Medicine.. He enjoys being in surgery, meeting all the new clients and their pets, and specializes in oral/dental health.

He is married and has three beautiful children. He and his family reside in Springfield, Missouri. In his spare time Dr. Sikes enjoys being with his family, spending time in the outdoors, and is an active member in his local church. Dr. Sikes enjoys being a part of the team at Strafford Veterinary Clinic, and his commitment to animal care and veterinary medicine are changing the lives of pets throughout Southwest Missouri.

   Jena Wells

   Senior Technician

Jena is our Senior Technician. She has been with Strafford Veterinary Clinic ever since the doors opened in 1997. She has been a major contributor to the growth and success of our clinic. What she enjoys most about working at SVC is the privilege to work and care for our wonderful clients and their pets, and being a part of creating the patient/client bond. She is always willing to go above and beyond to better serve the patient, client, and practice.

She is married and has four beautiful children: Wesley, Garret, Isabel and Devrie. She enjoys time with her family, horseback riding, camping, watching movies, and gardening.

   Joseph Williams
   Practice Manager

"Joe" has been with Strafford Veterinary Clinic since January of 2010. He is Dr. Mallard's younger brother and is such an asset to the practice. You can usually find him in the reception area answering phones, communicating with clients, and being involved with appointments. Joe also enjoys being involved in the growth of the Reproductive Program, but what he enjoys most at the clinic is being a part of extending the quality and longevity of patients through annual care and wellness recommendations.

Joe is married to his lovely wife Samantha. They just recently celebrated their second anniversary. Together they have 2 children, Brooklyn and Treyton. Joe's furry child is a pit bull rescue named "Princess Nevaeh", who is defintely queen of the castle. In his spare time he enjoys being outdoors, spending time with his family, watching football, and camping...


   Crystal Franklin, CPDT

   Technician and Certified Pet Dog Trainer

Crystal has been with our clinic since March of 2012 and has fit right in. She enjoys learning new things as a technician and working with the rest of the team. She has specialized in the dentistry care of our clients. She can be found assisting in surgeries, caring for hospitalized patients and assisting where needed throughout the clinic. Her love and compassion for the animals in our care shine through.

 She likes to read and go exploring with her dogs. She enjoys a passion for training dogs, which she does for the local area. She has been working professionally with animals for over 20 years. Her four-legged family includes "Harley," a DSH kitty who hides if you sneeze; "Sirus," a Shepherd mix who needs to know everything; "Andy," a Basset Hound x Pointer "love sponge"; and her newest addition "Monkey," who was bottle-raised as a kitten. She is happily engaged.

  Valerie Freeman

  Front Receptionist

Our lovely Valerie has been with us since September 6th, 2011.  She is one of the happy faces who will greet you when you walk through our door!  What Valerie enjoys most about working at SVC is working around the animals as well as the client interaction - she is a self-described "people person," and if you have met her you know this to be true!

Married to her husband Tony, they have three children:  Griffith, a member of the active Navy; Chasity, currently attending MSU; and Garrett, a freshman at Marshfield High School.  The canine portion of Valerie's "family" consists of her two Catahoula Leopard Dogs "Ruby" and "Hoss", as well as the little dog who stole her heart - her terrier/yorkie mix "Lily."  In addition, she owns two horses and has a cat named "Bonnie." When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling around Arkansas with her husband on their motorcycle, working in the yard, and watching her son Garrett and the Marshfield Blue Jays during baseball season.  She also grooms dogs at her home in her spare time.

    Autumn Jones, RVT

   Registered Veterinarian Technician

Autumn became a valuable member of the team here at SVC in June of 2012. She graduated from the veterinary technician program of Crowder College. She passed both her National Board Exam in July 2012 and her State Board Exam in November 2012. You will find her compassion and dedication shine through in her care for the patients in our care. She assists in surgery, cares for hospitalized cases, communicates with clients and is one of our main technicians found in the exam rooms taking care of our clients.

She has a dog, Sadie and 3 horses; Barbie, Bart and Buck. She enjoys riding in her free time. She also competes in barrel racing and rodeos.

Autumn was married in September 2013.





    Misty Haskins

    Front receptionist and assistant

Misty joined our team in November 2013. Misty had previously worked with adults and children with disabilities but her passion for animals brought her to Strafford Veterinary Clinic. Misty enjoys meeting new faces, human and 4 legged, that walk through the doors of our clinic. She also enjoys being able to be involved with all the canine and feline clientele that we have, especially since at the moment she has no furry babies of her own. Her future "farm" will allow her to indulge her love of animals with her own crew at home soon.

Misty loves spending time with her boyfriend of 3 years and his 2 wonderful children. Together they all enjoy spending their free time at the lake fishing, swimming, and wakeboarding. 

Misty is very excited to be part of the team at Strafford Veterinary Clinic.
