OFA Testing

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) was founded as a private, not-for-profit foundation in 1966 by John M. Olin, a well-known inventor, industrialist, philanthropist, conservationist, and sportsman. His passion ultimately led to the formation and incorporation of the OFA. Its initial mission: To provide radiographic evaluation, data management, and genetic counseling for canine hip dysplasia.

Today OFA is a common practice, or evaluation method, used with our reproductive patients. OFA's mission is to promote the health and welfare of companion animals through a reduction in the incidence of genetic disease. The OFA website and databases provide the tools needed, whether you are a veterinarian, breeder, or prospective animal owner.

At Strafford Vet we offer multiple OFA certifications. From elbows to hips to cardiac and thyroid we can add whichever ones to your dog's reproductive exam. Give us a call to learn more!
